- 10/18/17: Surgery #1 - Exploratory Laparotomy (Debulking) to remove tumor(s)... Diagnosed with Stage IIIc Ovarian Cancer (high-grade, serious carcinoma).
- 11/06/17: Begin Neaodjuvant Chemotherapy (NACT) with dose dense taxol & carboplatin
- 02/28/18: Surgery #2 - Radical Hysterectomy (now considered high-grade, serous carcinoma)
- Start on Adriamycin & Cytoxan (received 2 cycles)
- Changed to Cis-Platinum & Gemzar (received 3 cycles)
- 07/16/18: To M.D. Anderson (Houston), to explore optional future treatments because “Chemo is not working”
- 07/24/18: Hormone Therapy – Letrozole (to block estrogen from being produced)
- 10/20/18: New Hormone Blocker - Anastrozole
- 10/24/18: Back to M.D. Anderson to learn about possible Clinical Trail and have another scan because "every single treatment we've tried hasn't worked".
- 11/05/18: To M.D. Anderson for Clinical Trial Tests.
- 11/14/18: T-Cell Clinical Trial Begins...White Blood cells removed to "amp them up"!
- 01/08/19: CT Scan due to "tummy issues"
- 01/21/19: Surgery #3 - Reassessment Laparotomy (Debulking) to remove tumor to prevent a bowl obstruction and Supine Colectomy (removal of part of the colon).
- 03/18/19: Begin a month-long hospital at M.D. Anderson to undergo white blood cell infusion.
- 04/15/19: First Immunotherapy Treatment. To be given every 3 weeks "for as long as it continues to work".
- 05/11/19: CT Scan…”Tumors are stable” (5% growth)
- 06/19/19: CT Scan…“No Evidence of Metastasis!!” (12% growth)
- 10/01/19: Pelvic Examination: Found new fistula and additional tumors growing
- 10/18/19: Begin Oral Chemo (Cytoxan) + Letrozole (biopsy showed significant tumor growth)
- 01/13/20: PET Scan demonstrated “progression of disease”
- 01/21/20: IV Chemo – Doxil and Lynparza (received 4 cycles)
- 03/26/20: CT Scan showed “large volume of disease in abdomen”
- 05/18/20: Begin Oral Chemo - Etoposide
- 06/02/20: Begin Trametinib
- 06/25/20: CT Scan due to additional “tummy issues”
- 09/29/20: CT Scan (stability in tumors) / CA125 tumor marker considered “stable’
- 03/02/21: EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy)
- 03/09/21: Surgery #4 - Pellative Diverting Loop Ileostomy & G-Tube Placement
- 03/20/21: Emergency Hospital visit for “Wound Infection” and abdomen abscess
- 04/06/21: Start Palliative Care in Kansas City
- 04/16/21: Moves back to Indiana (Rochester) and starts Hospice Care in Rochester
- 06/18/21: Moves into parent’s house (Nappanee)
- 08/26/21: Begin a 2-week hospital stay for “Total Parenteral Nutrition” (TPN) placement… Assessment: “Extreme weight loss, severe malnutrition, acute renal failure (kidneys), hypokalemia (low magnesium), hypokalemia (low potassium), hyponatremia (low sodium), Thrombocytopenia (low blood platelet level), and anemia.
- 09/03/21: Has a super scare in hospital (CT scan showed a hole in Shaylee’s bowels & if the food she was eating got through that hole she would go into Sepsis)…But God had other plans!

- 09/08/21: Returns home (Nappanee)…Going off hospice and on TPN w/ Home Health Care
- 09/20/21: Back on Hospice (because Home Health Care unable to provide the needed assistance)
- 10/05/21: Rough week consisting of extreme pain, intense nausea, choking on phlegm, & non-stop oxygen.
- 11/05/21: Decided to stop TPN as it’s causing “more harm than good”.
- 11/28/21: Shaylee’s Cancer Journey ends peacefully in the comfort of her own bed, surrounded by her family.
